FAQs

What’s Involved?

If you’re planning to buy a new bike or have one built for you, the Fit Before service is for you.

The initial bike fit can be performed on a current bike, if you have one or using my adjustable Wahoo Kickr bike. The bike fit encompasses all the elements of the comprehensive bike fit except for foot activation, but takes place over multiple sessions.

The session starts with a discussion about the style of bike and riding you’re planning on doing and a physical assessment to assess your flexibility, strength, stability and symmetry.

Whether on your current bike or on the fitting jig, I will work with you to find your ideal leg extension, saddle position, reach, handlebar height and width. Once we have this data, I will use it to compare to bikes within your price and spec range, using the specialist bike geometry program Bike CAD pro.

It may be necessary to come back in for a quick session to mock up the new bike and check that it will be suitable.

Once you’ve bought or built the new bike, you are welcome to come back in for any fine tuning. Many bikes come with a stock stem, saddle and handlebar width which may not be suitable for you. Some companies are willing to change them before you buy, others will only provide bikes as they come. As far as possible, any additional parts required and the cost of fitting them will be discussed prior to purchase. If the stock saddle is not comfortable, you would be welcome to trial one of my saddles

If you are building a bike through London Bike Studio, a discount is available on the bike fit. Ask the staff at LBS for a discount code while planning your build. Please note, my studio is in LBS but am a separate business from them.

  • No you don’t. I work out of the excellent London Bike Studio but am an independent business. I can size any bike which the geometry is available for

  • Unfortunately I cannot guarantee that the bike we look at will work for you 100%. I will provide drawings and as much information as possible to help you make your decision. Once you have decided on a bike, you are welcome to come back and mock up the bike on the fitting jig before purchase.

However, I will be using information provided by the bike manufacturers, who do not always provide complete or accurate information. I cannot be held responsible if the bike isn’t exactly the same as the information they provide

You are welcome to contact me prior to booking to discuss this further.

  • I can help in the purchase of second hand bikes. Not all bike adverts are equally good and I can give you additional questions to ask the vendor. We will be relying on the seller providing accurate information and the geometry of the exact year and model of the bike being available. For modern bikes, they often are or at least the frame geometry should be similar to other versions available.

I cannot provide you with information on the condition of a bike, whether the price offered is fair or if the bike may be stolen. You need to make your own inquiries in these matters
