New Premises! With London Bike Studio

What a fabulous start to the year! Just a month in and I’ve moved my bike fitting studio into a great space within the huge premises of London Bike Studio. LBS is one of the highest rated bike mechanics in Hackney, and they’ve got stiff competition from the very large number of bike shops and workshops in the borough

Until now, I’d been running my bike fitting business from home and as a mobile service, but it wasn’t ideal and I’d been scouting for a new studio since the summer. I thought I’d found an OK spot when Diego from London Bike Studio sent me a DM, asking if I’d like to sublet a space within his new shop

LBS has been based in Stoke Newington for some years now and had outgrown their pair of shops round the corner on Evering Road. When a massive double fronted shop became available on Stoke Newington Road, Diego jumped at the chance to move to such an incredible location. Luckily for me, he had more than enough space to be able to offer me a section to run my bike fit studio

It’s been incredible seeing the shop take shape. My husband Andrew Corden is a furniture designer and was commissioned to do most of the shop fitting. As to be expected for a bike shop, almost everything is done by bike. All the staff, the electrician, sign writer come to work by bike. Even most of the stock and equipment was moved over from the old premises by bike

For those of you who spotted the puppy in the window, her name is Dora. She lived with her dads Oro (golden retriever) and Diego (human) for a couple of months while her new owner was away. She has now moved to live in a different bike shop. It was a happy and sad day seeing her cycle off into the sunset on the front of a cargo bike

So here I am! It’s a joy to be in and seeing my first clients in the new space. Having a bike fitter inside a bike shop makes so much sense. I’m available to help customers get the most of out of their bikes. The bike shop is there for my clients to sell and fit any new parts their bike’s need. A win win situation indeed

I have a degree in Human Biology, am a qualified personal trainer and worked for 10 years in physiotherapist education and medical marketing before retraining as a bike fitter. This combines my passion for cycling and orthopaedic knowledge into a career which I love. I want everyone who cycles to be comfortable, powerful and most importantly, have fun
